Downtown Revitalization

Transforming Stouffville’s Main St. as part of the Downtown Revitalization project

Recognized as the heart of the community, this historic area serves as a central meeting place and shopping destination for both residents and visitors. The Town’s Official Plan emphasizes maintaining this vibrant hub as the primary focal point of the community, and the Downtown Revitalization project is making that vision a reality.

The Town hired Accardi Engineering Group Ltd to lead the downtown’s redesign that will create a walkable, distinctive downtown with social gathering points, renew streetscapes and underground infrastructure, improve accessibility, and include sustainable, green features.

Preliminary design began in Fall 2024, focusing on underground investigation work and surveying to lay the groundwork for future improvements. Feedback from the community has and will be integral to the project. Past Public Information Centres in September 2022, future PICs next year and online surveys will guide the Downtown Revitalization as it progresses.

This project is not just about updating infrastructure; it’s about creating a dynamic, welcoming downtown that blends history with modern amenities. Join us as we reshape downtown Stouffville into a vibrant space that truly reflects the spirit of our community!
